Kill Bill Halloween Costume…where can I find similar patterns to work with?

By admin · Thursday, June 4th, 2009

I'm an exceptionally tall girl (6'1''), and I have my heart set on 'The Bride's' costume from Kill Bill for Halloween (the yellow motorcycle outfit Uma Thurman wears during the Crazy 88 fight scene). Any pre-fabricated costume available online will not fit me. I'm considering making my own costume. Where can I find a (similar)sewing pattern for the riding jacket and pants Thurman wears in the film? (Any other suggestions for this costume would be appreciated as well).
Thanks a bunch!

The easiest place to start is your local fabric store– most places have a Jo-ann or Hancock that's not too far away. They'll have a lot of pattern books that you can look at. Just remember that you're only looking at the shape of the garment– nothing else. If you see pants that look like the right style you can make them out of anything. The shapes of those garments are very similar to a lot of stuff that's fashionable now, so you shouldn't have a hard time. All the big pattern companies also have websites that you can order from.

Given your height, you should probably do a mock up (trial run out of cheap fabric) before you cut the real garments. You can just baste it together quick and try it on to see where you need to add length to the pieces.

Good luck!

Would you be able to just find a yellow jumpsuit, and then sew on the black stripes? Something like this:

I could not find any patterns for a kill bill jumpsuit.
