What are the rating systems for the motorcycle armor?

I’m looking at buying a jaket that has Level-3 Advanced Armor
by Xelement but i’m not sure what it means. Can someone explain this to me and possibly give me advice on the Motorcycle Jacket that i should buy? Its for street riding.
Here’s the link at the one i’m looking to buy http://www.leatherup.com/p/Motorcycle-jackets/Mens-Armored-Motorcycle-Black–Blue-Tri-Tex%E2%84%A2-Fabric-With-Leather-Trim-Jackets/46638.html

Thanks ahead of time,
Dmitry

That jacket is a decent starter jacket, but it doesn’t beat 1.2 to 1.4 full leather jackets. Good price though. That so called "Level 3" armor is xelement rating and not an actual rating. Most if not all race bike jackets have armor, but that’s not what you should be looking at. As I stated it’s the quality of the leather, and the stitching of the jacket. You don’t want to crash and have the jacket come apart on you because of faulty stiching. This has been known to happen with knockoff’s. The removable shoulder and elbow armor is not more then hardened plastic and doesn’t help so much on a bad spill. Some of the plastic is flimsy, some others are more rigid but again…it’s all about the leather.

I race, and fell a few times so I know what I’m talking about. I have 4 race suits, 4 pairs of boots, 3 jackets, 6 helmets…you get the idea.
